The Return To Devotion

Living In Peace | August 21, 2017
This single command would heal our relationships and our land. "Never pay back evil for evil to anyone." Somebody has to atone for the sins of others. Jesus took our sin upon Himself. As God, He could have retaliated, but instead, He "bore" our sins. Likewise, as Christians (little Christs), we are called to take the sins of others upon ourselves.

Never pay back evil for evil to anyone.
Romans 12:17a (NASB)

The Reputation Of Nobility | August 22, 2017
Paul reminds us in today's verse that others are watching our actions, therefore, we must think through the things we do before we do them. Self-awareness, especially as it relates to others is an important part of our discipleship. Those that serve Christ are constantly checking their actions to determine if we are bringing the Kingdom forward or setting it back.

Focus your thoughts on those things that are considered noble.
Romans 12:17b (GW)

Can We Live At Peace With Everyone? | August 23, 2017
The path to peace with everyone is not something we accomplish on the outside. It is something we cultivate on the inside. When we interact negatively with others, it is up to us to invite the peace of Christ into that spot. No one can make us angry. We either make ourselves angry or peaceful based upon the grace we choose to walk in.

If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.
Romans 12:18 (NIV)

The Wisdom Of Godly Revenge | August 24, 2017
We are not designed to seek personal judgement on others. All judgement between us and others is to be left in the hands of God. In fact, not only is our "getting our due" rendered neutral, we are in essence called upon to reverse our vengeance and seek to bless others with our actions. Of course to our "natural selves" this seems foolish, but to the spiritual person, this is very wise. Let me show you.

Never take your own revenge, beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. “But if your enemy is hungry, feed him, and if he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.”
Romans 12:19-20 (NASB)
